S.A.G.N.C. Description:

"Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear." -Thomas Jefferson, letter to Peter Carr, August 10, 1787

The purpose of this group is to bring together, in a social setting, like-minded free-thinking people who find it difficult to find support within a fundamentalist dominated community. Discussions are free and open to cover a wide variety of topics. We will not meet to "bash religion", but to have open, reasonable, and honest discussions. I know all do not share my deep-seated (dare I say radical?) views of Atheism, religion being harmful to society, or “liberal” political association. This is very much accepted as I respect all opinions and do not require agreement to appreciate your input. I would like to reiterate that this group is for any, and every one and all opinions and good-natured debates are welcome. All I ask is everyone be respectful of each other.  -Gene [2012]

Group Philosophy: "Faith does not give you the answers, it just stops you from asking the questions."

Come join us for our 'FACTS, NOT FAITH' meeting on the 1st Sunday of EVERY month at Starbucks in Barnes and Noble Bookstore, Hickory NC.
